What is the waste factor for asphalt paving, and why does it matter?

The waste factor (usually 5-10%) accounts for asphalt that spills during transport, sticks to the truck bed, gets compacted irregularly, or is trimmed away at the edges. Without it, you’ll almost certainly fall short. Professional estimators never skip the waste factor—it’s the difference between a finished job and a frantic call for an emergency top-up.

Can I calculate asphalt for a circular or triangular area with this tool?
