Scientific calculator with steps
Show steps
Enter a four-digit code
Code Mode is a separate HeyCalc experiment. It does not change the calculator title or open game resources until you choose a code.
How to use the scientific calculator
Enter a complete expression such as sin(30) + 2^5, choose DEG or RAD, and press Calculate. DEG is the default because it matches many classroom angle problems. The calculator accepts numbers, parentheses, implicit multiplication such as 3(4+1), powers, percentages, and the supported scientific functions.
Supported operations and steps
The browser engine supports arithmetic, sin, cos, tan, inverse trigonometric functions, hyperbolic functions, ln, log, log2, sqrt, cbrt, powers, squares, factorial, absolute value, exponential notation, pi, e, and percentages. Show steps lists evaluated operations when the parser has a reliable numeric explanation. It does not invent symbolic proof steps for expressions outside the supported operation set.
Worked examples
sin(30) returns 0.5 in DEG mode. (15*4+20/2) follows parentheses, multiplication, and division before addition and returns 70. 200 + 15% treats the percentage as fifteen percent of the left value and returns 230. The display uses ten significant digits while the browser keeps its normal internal numeric precision.
Common mistakes
Check the angle mode before evaluating trigonometry. Close every parenthesis, use a positive integer for factorial, and do not confuse 15% with the literal number 15. Calculation history is stored locally in this browser and is limited to the most recent entries.
Frequently asked questions
Frequently Asked Questions About Online Calculators
Does the scientific calculator require an account?
No. The calculator runs in the browser and does not require signup or a download.
Are expressions sent to a calculation API?
The scientific expression parser and evaluator run locally in the page.
How many digits are displayed?
The result formatter displays up to ten significant digits while retaining the browser numeric result internally.
Can I type with a physical keyboard?
Yes. Numbers, operators, parentheses, function names, Enter, Backspace, and Escape are supported by the calculator input.
