Frequently Asked Questions about Osrs Dry Calculator

Is it safe to use an online OSRS drop calculator?

Absolutely, but only if it's built correctly. The HeyCalc tool processes everything locally in your web browser. You are not required to log in, enter a username, or upload any files. It is mathematically impossible for this tool to compromise your RuneScape account because it never communicates with any server about your game data.

How accurate is the OSRS dry calculator compared to in-game RNG?

This calculator is perfectly accurate from a mathematical standpoint, using the standard geometric distribution formula. However, in-game RNG is a pseudo-random number generator. Over millions of kills across all players, the actual results will match this calculator's predictions almost exactly. For your individual account, it provides the true probability, but Jagex's servers ultimately decide each individual drop.

What does a 99% confidence level mean in the expected kills tab?

It does not mean you are guaranteed a drop at that kill count. It means that if 100 players all hunted the same item to that specific kill count, 99 of them would have received at least one drop. You could very well be the 1 in 100 player who still hasn't gotten it. That's the cruel nature of RNG.

Can I use this tool for clues, skilling pets, or wilderness drops?

Yes. Any drop in Old School RuneScape that has a fixed probability can be analyzed. Just enter the numerator (usually "1") and the denominator (the drop rate, like 5,000 for the beaver pet). The OSRS dry streak tool works for pets, boss uniques, clue rewards, and even rare skilling successes.

This says I'm 10x the drop rate. Is the game broken?

No. While it feels awful, a 10x dry streak on a 1/1000 item has a probability of about 0.009%. That's 1 in 11,000 players. With hundreds of thousands of active accounts, thousands of players experience this level of dryness every single day. You are not alone, even if it feels that way.

Why would I need a separate streak analysis instead of the main calculator?

The main calculator tells you the chance of having any drop by now. The Streak Analysis tab specifically calculates the chance of getting zero drops for your exact streak length. It’s a subtle but important difference. Use the main calculator for general luck. Use the Streak Analysis tab when you want to quantify exactly how punishing your current zero-drop streak is.
