Type Number = ⌊(a + 2b + 4c + 8d + 16e + 32f) × 15 / 63⌋

  • a = HP IV is odd ? 1 : 0
  • b = Attack IV is odd ? 1 : 0
  • c = Defense IV is odd ? 1 : 0
  • d = Speed IV is odd ? 1 : 0
  • e = Special Attack IV is odd ? 1 : 0
  • f = Special Defense IV is odd ? 1 : 0

The result (0-63) corresponds to a specific type according to the type table.

Power Calculation (Gen III-V):

Power = ⌊(u + 2v + 4w + 8x + 16y + 32z) × 40 / 63⌋ + 30

  • u-z are based on whether each IV divided by 4 has remainder 2 or 3
  • Power ranges from 30 to 70

The calculator uses the exact formulas from Bulbapedia and verified research across each generation. For Gen II, it applies the original algorithm where power depends on a different IV calculation. All 17 possible types (excluding Normal) are covered. If you don't see a type, it's because Hidden Power can never be that type under the current formulas (it cannot be Normal or Fairy? Actually Fairy is possible in Gen VI+ — the presets include Fairy. So all types are there). Scroll through the table; if you still don't see it, double‑check your generation selection — in Gen II, the type table is slightly different.

Is the type effectiveness chart updated for the Fairy type?
